Allentown’s Maddam Ink took the crown at WZZO’s Backyard Bands contest Thursday evening. The band competed against Big Terrible, Kaeyo, Panic Years and The Feens for a $2,000 gift certificate to Dave Phillips Music and bragging rights. The five finalists were chosen by WZZO staff, out of about 40 band entries, and competed in a battle of the bands at The Great Allentown Fair.Tom “Smitty” Smith from SP Unlimited, Ed Pinka from Reprise Records and Stan Levinstone from SLP Concerts judged the final competition, according to the WZZO website .
